'I can do better' - Gini Wijnaldum admits PSG 'relief' after struggles

Former Liverpool midfielder GIni Wijnaldum has explained his ‘relief’ at scoring his first goals for Paris Saint-Germain.

The ex-Reds star scored both of PSG’s goals in their 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

It was the 16th appearance for the Dutchman since his exit from Anfield at the end of last season.

Wijnaldum called time on five years at Liverpool earlier in the summer to join PSG as a free agent, after his contract with the Reds expired.

The 30-year-old has made just eight starts for the Liga 1 outfit so far this season, and his two strikes against Leipzig were the first for his new club.

In a tweet on Thursday evening, Wijnaldum explained why it was a “relief” for him to finally get on the scoresheet for the first time since leaving Liverpool.

“I've been waiting for this moment for so long and it was a relief to have scored goals and have been able to help the team,” wrote Wijnaldum on Twitter.

“It feels good but I can't be too happy because the job isn't done.

“I'm also looking at what I can do better and there is much more that I can do better.”
