A woman claims her sister reacted furiously when she brought her 15-year-old daughter along to her childfree wedding, despite knowing full well she hadn't wanted any kids there. Her sister had previously stated that no children at all would be permitted at her wedding 'as they are loud and noisy'.
Despite this clear stipulation, however, she decided to just go ahead and bring the teen along anyway, reasoning that the girl had wanted to wish her aunt well on her wedding day. To her great confusion, her parents shot her 'daggers' throughout the service, and she then ended up in a fiery confrontation with the fuming bride.
Taking to Reddit, the apparently puzzled mum, who goes by the username u/Suspicious_Tonight61 recalled how her sister had approached her, looking absolutely 'furious'.
Reaching out for some words of wisdom, she wrote: "She asked, 'Who was I to completely disregard her rules?'. I was confused until she pointed out that my daughter should not be there.
"I argued, saying that the reason she didn't want children there was because they would misbehave. My daughter was silent, never on her phone, and was extremely respectful."
Things got so awkward that she ended up leaving the wedding early, and her phone has since been blowing up with 'angry' texts from her parents.
Although her husband agrees with her, he also thinks she could have handled things better, while her sister now point blank refuses to speak to her until she apologises.
One person commented: "This is a poor excuse. 'She wanted to go'. Too bad, she was not invited. I feel bad for your daughter because you put her in a bad spot when all you had to say was, 'Sorry, only adults are invited.' You owe everyone an apology."
Another agreed: "You had good intentions and your daughter was well-behaved, but you still went against your sister's wishes. The least you could have done was at least ask her well ahead of time, instead of surprising her with your daughter on the day of her wedding."
