'I breastfeed my nephew to help my sister - people think it's weird but it's natural'

Everyone has opinions about whether you should breastfeed your baby, but it's down to the mother whether her child gets milk from a bottle, a boob - or someone else's breasts entirely. One mum has enlisted the help of her sister to breastfeed her baby, and she's shared her positive experience online.

Mum-of-three Lisa McAloon recently gave birth to a baby boy named Callum, and when her milk supply was running low, she passed him over to her sister, Janelle McAloon, for a feed. The moment was captured on camera and divided Instagram users, who had strong opinions about sharing milk.

In the clip, mum-of-four Janelle can be seen pulling down her top, without hesitation, and letting her hungry nephew latch on for milk.

Janelle coined herself a "human cow" and said "anything for my nephew".

The viral post has racked up almost 10 million views and it's encouraged fellow mums to share their breastfeeding experiences.

"My sister helped me out when I couldn't get quite enough milk for my twins! Love this!" someone said.

Another agreed: "When I had a baby my supply was low so my sister gave me some of her stores of milk and my friends were APPALLED. I couldn't believe I got judged for it.

"They'll drink processed milk from a strange cow's udder, but it's gross to feed my kid my sister's extra breast milk?"

Some people admitted their instant reaction was shock, but soon came around to the idea.

A user commented: "I'm not gonna lie. I had a flash of 'wtf'. But then just that quickly it was replaced with me questioning why that would bother me. Feed that baby. That's all that matters."

Others praised the pair but admitted they wouldn't be able to do it themselves, saying they'd be "jealous of the connection".

An army of women defended the sisters against the trolls who called them "weird" and "nasty", explaining 'wet nurses' have been common practice for decades.

In a follow-up video, Janelle explained why breastfeeding her nephew shouldn't be perceived strange.

"She just got done breastfeeding her baby and he was still hungry, he wanted more milk, she didn't have enough so I was like 'give him to me, I will feed him for you'," Janelle said.

"No it's not an everyday thing, I'm not feeding him all the time but I will help her and I know she would do the same thing for me.

"It shouldn't be considered weird to people, it's literally just milk it's nutrients for the baby."
