I bought Christmas items from Home Bargains and B&M to see which was cheapest

The aisles at Home Bargains and B&M are piled high with Christmas goodies at this time of the year, but which discount store has the cheapest products?

I put the shops to the test to find out how much specific items cost and find out the overall cheapest.

Both Home Bargains and B&M were busy with shoppers buying Christmas items when I visited them on a Thursday lunchtime, so it’s no surprise that some items weren’t in stock.

However, I was able to get my hands on some festive goodies. Here's what I was able to buy from the Christmas aisles and how much it cost me.

Wrapping paper - £1

Small baubles (pack of 20) - £2.50

Small Christmas stocking - £3

Christmas reed diffuser - £3

Mr Kipling mince pies - £1 (in the sale down from £1.50)

Baileys replica (Derry’s Country Cream) - £5.49 (in the sale down from £5.99)

Christmas crackers (pack of 12) - £4

Verdict

Both shops had the majority of what I was after, however B&M had no packs of Christmas cards in stock and Home Bargains didn't have any Lindt Lindor chocolate boxes. Home Bargains also only had one damaged box of Christmas Crackers left.

B&M came in cheapest, but only by £1.67. If the Christmas tree lights, mince pies and Derry's Country Cream weren’t in the sale, Home Bargains would be the cheapest by around £6.
