Aside from the endless packing and stressful moving logistics, one of the most worrying parts of moving house is finding out whether your neighbours are polite and cordial or down right nightmarish - as stolen parcels, unsociable noise and parking spot rows can unfold within days.
When it comes to neighbourly noise, there's usually three main culprits - an inconsiderate couple being loud in the bedroom, screaming children or barking dogs. One neighbour got so fed up of the latter that they took drastic action to stop a nearby dog from incessantly barking when it needs to come in from the garden - and the cunning tactic has left an onlooking neighbour in stitches.

Taking to Reddit to share the humorous tale, one anonymous person explained that their neighbour had simply had enough of the dog's barking - and its owners apparent inability to hear it.
Living close by, the Reddit poster also has to put up with the canine's dulcet tones, and has been driven crazy for years over the inconvenient noise.
The post explained: "I have a neighbour who leaves their large breed dog out in their back yard when it goes out to toilet.
"Fine, apart from it barks to be let back in. And the owners don’t rush to let it in. So it keeps barking for ten-fifteen minutes at a time, about five times a day".
The constant barking sounds bad enough, but the disgruntled neighbour explained that the sound also ricochets across their neighbourhood.

"The thing is, the geography of my neighbourhood means this dog not only has an epic bark to begin with, but it echos [sic] around the back yards of about 25 neighbours," they revealed.
"Its first bark is loud enough to make you jump and drop what you are holding, it’s that abrupt and startling."
The neighbour admitted: "It’s been driving me crazy for about two years now. But I’ve internalised that misery and just powered through".
"Until a few weeks ago. A few weeks ago, another one of my neighbours bought an air horn. Every time this dog barks, they BLAST the air horn. Weirdly, the dog owners then instantly appear and let the dog back in".
The unusual solution seems to have worked, as the post explains: "And let me tell you, this air horn has trained the dog owners a treat. So much that I haven’t heard the dog bark in five days. I do kind of miss the air horn though, it always made me chuckle.
Owing to the dramatic ending to the nightmare neighbour saga, many Reddit users flocked to the comments to praise the air horn owner and said they can't wait to try it in their own homes.
One person said: "I'm definitely gonna try this, can't believe I didn't think of it. The dog owner usually waits until one if the neighbours screams 'shut the f*** up' before they bring this monstor [sic] dog back in".
Another echoed that view, writing: "I think I should get an air horn... We're surrounded by barking dogs and it's driving me nuts. No one seems to train their dogs and often neglect them.
"What confuses me most is that people are at home and they just let their dogs bark and bark and bark, doing nothing to stop them".
Other neighbours are using air horns for other means, as one person reveals: "Our neighbor [sic] uses his air horn to blast at the other neighbors when they play their karaoke every weekend.
"The music starts on Friday night and continues thru Sunday night. Sometimes the other neighbor [sic] with the air horn will light fireworks and direct them to the music lover neighbor [sic]. I’ve gotten to where I dread weekends!"
