Police who pulled a driver over after spotting the car's 'excessive' tinted windows found the motorist with a provisional licence and no insurance.
The incident happened in Shirebrook when police stopped the Volkswagen Golf.
Officers said they found the front tints only allowed 15 percent light transmission.
The law requires 70 percent, they said.
In a tweet, the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit added: "Checks show driver is an unsupervised provisional licence holder with no insurance."
In reply on Twitter, one man wrote: "I bet he didn't see you guys coming."
