The news that Joe Biden is suffering from an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones has thrown shockwaves across the political spectrum. It’s fair to say the reaction to the news has been mixed.
In an unexpectedly gracious move, Donald Trump (or at least a member of his staff) wished Biden a full recovery on TruthSocial, echoing well wishes from within Washington. But many remain unhappy, ranging from Laura Loomer remaining determined to put him behind bars, Palestine supporters who will never forgive “genocide Joe”, and establishment Dems who blame Biden for them losing the 2024 election.
Amidst all that, an old speech from Biden has surfaced that suddenly seems very relevant. In 2022, Biden was making a speech about global warming and referenced fumes from oil refineries near his childhood home in Delaware. Biden then casually said: “That’s why I and so damn many other people I grew up with have cancer and why for the longest time Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation.”

At the time, Biden’s team rushed to explain that Biden saying “I have cancer” didn’t mean he had cancer. White House spokesman Andrew Bates claimed Biden was referring to “non-melanoma skin cancers” he’d had removed before he took office, and the statement was waved away as a “gaffe”.
A strange kind of gaffe…
In retrospect, saying you have cancer is a pretty strange kind of gaffe and has led many to theorize that Biden was secretly aware of his condition for years. Prostate cancer develops slowly, and it now spreading to his bones indicates that Biden must have had the condition for some time, even if he wasn’t aware of it.
Presidents aren’t legally required to have health examinations but given Biden’s age, it seems unlikely he wouldn’t have had semi-regular checkups from his doctors while in office. We can’t know exactly what kind of examinations Biden had, though for a man of his age, a prostate exam would be fairly routine.
All of which means there’s now growing suspicion that Biden was aware he had cancer throughout much of his presidency, which would make his decision to try and run for re-election in 2024 even more bizarre. This leaves some big questions for Biden’s team to answer. Naturally divulging his private medical details is an ethical minefield, but if the Democrats really were covering up that the president was suffering from cancer, that’s… not great.
