I am the man to provide Notts County with physical presence says new teenage defender

Notts County's new signing Sam Graham says he is the man to add some much needed physicality to the Magpies defence this season.

Neal Ardley spoke of his frustrations on Saturday after his side struggled to compete with an Eastleigh side that towered over them.

But on Monday, Notts responded by first adding former Port Vale centre-back Connell Rawlinson to their ranks before beating off competition from fellow National League side Barrow to land Graham's signature.

The 18-year-old has joined on loan from Premier League Sheffield United, where he is entering the final year of his contract, and as the son of former title-winning boxer Herol Graham he could be just the athlete that Ardley has been searching for.

"I'm looking forward to the physicality [of non-league] because that's my main attribute," said Graham, speaking to the club's official website.

"I'll work hard and do what I do best - which is defend - and try to play a little as well.

He added: "I've gained experience over the last two years playing men's football and that should stand me in good stead for the coming season."
