I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai – review

This is the story of Malala told from the perspective of a normal girl who just wanted to go to stand up for beliefs. It’s haunting how normal and ordinary her life was whilst still being so chaotic and different.

Im sure we’ve all heard of Malala and her story of the shooting. But this book centres around the motives behind the attack. Inspired and left behind by her father, Malala continues to go to school, rebelling against the Taliban whilst other girls continue to drop out.

Malala’s life seemed fictional in the creative way she communicated with her neighbouring friend. It was strange and refreshing how stripped down the way life was lived and probably still is lived now.

“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”, and Malala’s traumatising shooting resulted in her ability to attend a school where she can further her education and became known all around the world as the ambassador of conscience. Very fitting if you ask me.

Overall, I am Malala was extremely interesting and has definitely made me look at the education system in the UK with respect and gratitude.
