How to Use Essence of Life in Hytale
Unlike many other items you'll gather during your first couple of hours in Hytale's exploration mode, Essence of Life is not a crafting item. Rather, it is one of many currencies in the game, which you'll use to trade with a specific NPC for their goods. To use Essence of Life, head to the Forgotten Temple on your map. Here's how to find it:
- When starting the game, open your map and look for the Forgotten Temple. It’s a massive, three-winged structure, usually located on a river, with a teleportation icon next to it labeled "Forgotten Temple." Check out our images.
- Head to the temple, enter it, and make your way downstairs.
- There will be a Golem, whom you'll need to defeat.
- When you beat the Golem, enter the massive blue portal.
- You will be teleported to the Forgotten Temple location.
- There will be an NPC called Rootling Merchant.
- This is the merchant where you can use Hytale's Essence of Life as a currency to trade for items.

A form of overflowing life energy found in abundance around plant life on Orbis. In great enough concentrations, perhaps it could even bring forth sentience where it was absent before.

This item is essentially omnipresent, dropping from nearly any living creature and obtained through activities like gathering flowers and other plants, defeating animals, and opening chests. In fact, most resource-related activities will frequently reward you with Essence of Life. As a result, there’s no need to farm it specifically - you’ll naturally accumulate plenty as you progress throughout the game.

Essence of Life is an item that usually drops when collecting plants. It is an in-game currency that can be traded in for various resources bought from an NPC vendor called Rootling Merchant.
