Social media users are furious with Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard for declaring that officials who purportedly attempted to stage a "coup" against President Donald Trump must be held accountable, citing President Trump's pardons of January 6 rioters to point out the administration's hypocrisy.
Gabbard appeared on Fox News show Sunday Morning Futures, in conversation with host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday. Gabbard discussed the hundreds of documents published by her team demonstrating that the Obama administration knew that Russian interference did not impact the 2016 presidential election, won by President Donald Trump, despite having released evidence of the contrary to the public.
"The only logical conclusion that I can draw in this ... is that there was direct intent to cover up the truth about what occurred and who was responsible and the broad network of how this seditious conspiracy was concocted and who exactly was responsible for carrying it out," Gabbard stated.
She continued to encourage Attorney General Pam Bondi to indict officials involved in what she referred to as a "coup", stating that those who attempted to subvert democracy had to be held accountable.
"There must be indictments of those responsible, no matter how powerful they are and were at that time, no matter who was involved in creating this treasonous conspiracy against the American people. They all must be held accountable," Gabbard declared.
"For the American people to have any sense of trust in the integrity of our democratic republic, accountability, action, prosecution, [and] indictments for those who are responsible for trying to steal our democracy is essential for us to make sure that this never happens to our country again," she later added.
Enraged social media users took to online platforms to point out Gabbard's hypocrisy, indicating that President Trump and his supporters also demonstrated a disregard for democracy and the will of the American people during the January 6 Capitol riots.
"On Jan 6, Trump attacked the capital. "Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people..." Gabbard claims Obama officials 'manufactured intelligence' of 2016 Russian election interference. Trump committed treason, but let's talk about Obama," wrote one user.

"Tulsi Gabbard is out here calling Obama a coup plotter, while ignoring Trump's literal attempt to overturn an election he lost. This isn't about democracy. It's about deflection," wrote another user.

This isn’t about democracy. It’s about deflection.
You don’t restore integrity by fabricating conspiracies, you restore it by confronting the ones…
"@TulsiGabbard Ur admitting u will lie, step on people's heads&do whatever you can to make them look bad just to protect a felon freak pedophile who started a coup on Jan. 6th;this is the person that you're scared to death of ruining your life in a tent watching the mob attack," said another.

"Tulsi's ranting about imaginary coups while defending the guy who actually led one on January 6. You couldn't script this level of hypocrisy," added a fourth.
