At-home rowing machine firm Hydrow has secured backing from a host of celebrities, including comedian and actor Kevin Hart, and singers Lizzo and Justin Timberlake, in its latest funding round.

Hydrow, which aims to bring the on-water experience for rowing to consumers and whose machines sell for $2,295 (£1,680), offers live and on-demand workouts, some led by world-class athletes.

It said almost $200 million in cumulative funding has been secured, and the update follows strong growth for the business last year, with sales in the US 500% higher.

The US company, which launched into the UK market in March and has a office in Weybridge, said the capital will help fuel additional innovation and global expansion.

Founder and chief executive Bruce Smith said: "It is an honour to have some of the most well-regarded names in music, sports and entertainment support our crew.”

Hydrow said that following the appointment of several strategic new hires, it “is primed to continue to disrupt the wellness industry”.
