Glasgow Hydro bosses issue apology for Strictly Come Dancing cancellation after water leak

Bosses at the Hydro have 'sincerely apologised' for the cancellation of this afternoon's Strictly Come Dancing show which left thousands stood outside in the cold and rain.

Ticket holders took to social media to vent their fury at the cancellation, the news of which filtered through to people after the vast majority had spent over an hour waiting for the doors to the Scottish Event Campus venue to open.

The Hydro has confirmed the cause of the cancellation was a water leak affecting the stage area, which became apparent shortly before the doors opened.

The SSE Hydro tweeted: “We are sorry to say that due to a water leak which affected the stage area, today’s matinee has had to be cancelled.

"The team worked hard to resolve the problem which became apparent shortly before doors opened. The cause of which is unknown.

"We are liaising with the promoter of the event to reschedule the show, however refunds are available from point of purchase and we sincerely apologise to those affected".

At the moment, there is no word as to whether this evening's show will go ahead.

The most recent update from the Hydro states: "We are working with the tour to stage this evening's performance as planned and will provide further updates very shortly."
