
Shipments of potted hydrangeas at Sakamoto Gardening in Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture, have reached their peak prior to Mother's Day, which is on May 10. Sakamoto grows approximately 60 kinds of hydrangeas in its greenhouses. Recently, hydrangeas, along with carnations, have become popular as Mother's Day gifts. The company ships out about 25,000 hydrangeas to markets including Tokyo and Nagoya. The grower's second-generation owner, said, "I hope these hydrangeas can give someone a peaceful feeling in this difficult time."
