HYDERABAD: All cash-based transactions in Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) will switch over to digital mode of payment by September.
The water board will be sending e-bills to mobile numbers of consumers who will be able to pay it through any digital wallet or HMWS&SB official portal. Of the roughly 70 crore monthly water bill of consumers in Greater Hyderabad and its periphery, the water board is currently receiving 50 crore in online payments and the rest Rs 20 crore in cash.
“As most government utilities have switched over to digital mode, the HMWS&SB will also be implementing it in the next couple of months. ,” a senior water board official said, addingit is essential to ensure every penny paid by the consumer is accountable.
