Hyderabad: Protest over food quality in Osmania University

HYDERABAD: Students of Osmania University staged a protest within campus on Monday demanding better facilities in hostels. The protest came in the backdrop of a student allegedly finding a worm in the food served in the hostel mess on Sunday.

The students blocked the road in front of ladies’ hostel and raised slogans against the administration. The protest continued for almost four to five hours. Students said that the quality of food and water being served in hostel was of poor quality.

Tension prevailed on campus as students cooked food on the road as well. They claimed that varsity was paying no heed to demands which have been made over years.

“This is not the first time that those staying in the ladies ‘hostel have taken to the streets seeking better facilities. The food is unappetising and it has only become worse post pandemic,” said a student.

Officials from the chief wardens office visited the protest spot. Warden promised to look into the demands and resolve them at the earliest.
