HYDERABAD: A jilted lover stabbed a 22-year-old saleswoman at her house before stabbing himself in Bowenpally area of Secunderabad in Hyderabad district of Telangana on Wednesday.
The woman who sustained two stab injuries is said to be out of danger.
Chamanthi, 22, from Bapuji Nagar in Bowenpally works at a supermarket near her house.
According to police, on Wednesday afternoon, Chamanthi was at home.
Her friend, Girish, 25, of Jawaharnagar who used to work as a chef is currently unemployed.
"Girish has been in love with Chamanthi for the past four years. On Wednesday afternoon Girish came to Chamanthi's house. The main door was open and Chamanthi was sitting in a chair in the front room. Blaming Chamanthi for avoiding him recently, Girish pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Chamanthi twice," Bowenpally inspector K Ravi Kumar said.
As Chamanthi collapsed on the floor screaming in pain, her mother panicked and tried to help.
Meanwhile, the accused stabbed himself in the abdomen with the same knife and collapsed in front of their door.
Bowenpally Police shifted the injured to different hospitals for treatment.
"Chamanthi is out of danger. Girish's injury is slightly severe, but his condition is also stable," the inspector said.
Police registered an attempt to murder case under Section 307 of the IPC.
