HYDERABAD: A 29-year-old woman passenger claimed that she was raped by a driver in a moving private bus after the accused brandished a knife. Kukatpally police registered a rape case and investigation is on.
On February 23, at 9.30pm, a woman boarded a bus bound to Bhimavaram. As per her complainant, about two hours into the journey, a driver requested to share her sleeper seat and she agreed. Subsequently, he allegedly raped her by brandishing a knife and threatening her not to raise an alarm. The next day morning, after she got down the bus at Bhimavaram, she took another public transport vehicle to come back to Hyderabad to lodge a police complainant.
She made her complaint at the Kukatpally police station. A case under section 376 (rape) of IPC was regitered. During the investigation, police called in the suspect to ascertain the facts of the complaint. Prior to the victim getting into the bus, police found that she was talking to the accused. Different CCTV footage are still being verified. The woman is already married and has two children.
