Aug. 09--Adult entertainment mogul and publisher Larry Flynt has purchased a home in Maui County, Hawaii, for $5.7 million.
Found within the gated Wailea Highlands community in Kihei, the 4,225-square-foot home fronts the Arthur Jack Snyder-designed Wailea Blue Course with fairway and ocean views.
Drawing from Polynesian style, the single-story floor plan features such details as a courtyard entry with a running waterfall and stream, beveled-glass African Sapele doors and white coral columns and walls. Sixty-foot walls of telescoping glass connect the indoor-outdoor spaces.
Among living spaces are open-space living and dining rooms, a chef's kitchen with a large center island and a media room/den with a wet bar. Three bedrooms and five bathrooms include a master retreat complete with curved glass shower, glass accents and a jetted spa.
Set off of the common areas, a covered lanai of about 1,000 square feet opens to an infinity-edge swimming pool. Adjacent to the pool is a built-in barbecue and dining area.
The house came to market in May for $5.9 million, property records show. Last year, it sold for about $4.873 million.
Robert Dein of Maui Real Estate Advisors was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Gail Swanson of Hawaiian Style Realty represented the buyer in the sale.
Flynt, 72, is publisher and president of Larry Flynt Publications, which serves as the parent company of Hustler magazine. One of the most powerful people in the adult entertainment industry, he has a net worth is estimated at $500 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
