From Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (KSBKBT) to Kumkum to several other TV serials, Hussain Kuwajerwala has been part of many hit TV shows and has hosted numerous reality shows as well. Though he played the lead in the Broadway-styled show Zangoora, and lived in Delhi for a long time, he was seen on the small screen as a host quite often. Now, the actor is thrilled to be back on the tube with an upcoming sitcom Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo 2.
He says, “I was looking out for a light-hearted project as I had not done comedy before. This will be a good self-test. It will be a learning experience. I am excited about it. Moreover, everything fell into place with the producers within a few days.”
While he has either been performing on stage or hosting, Hussain admits that nothing beats acting. “I missed performing in front of a camera. I did Zangoora in 2010, because I had done a lot of work on television and wanted a new approach to things. I was never worried about going out of sight and out of mind, as I kept hosting reality shows including Khatron Ke Khiladi and Indian Idol, during the past two years. When you keep on working, you don’t think of these things. Luckily, I have not had to face a bad phase in my life, I hope I don’t have to. Even when I was in Delhi, people kept calling me for TV shows.”
Hussain has been wanting to take up an acting role on TV since last year but he says “nothing was working out”. He says he is nervous about his upcoming project. “Comedy is a new genre for me. I am nervous, which is a good thing because it keeps you on your toes. Acting is a process and I totally love it. I am going to give it my 100 percent. I won’t worry about ratings because I can’t do anything about them.”
