Husein Balic responds to Celtic transfer rumours as Hoops face Southampton competition for Austrian speedster

LASK winger Husein Balic has responded to recent transfer rumours linking him with a move to Celtic.

Parkhead manager Neil Lennon has been repeatedly associated with the left-sided winger, who could be available for just under £3million in January as the Austrian title hopefuls feel the pinch of Covid-19.

But English Premier League side Southampton and top-flight hopefuls Brentford are also interested in the winger, who is reported to be among the fastest players in the world.

Balic could play internationally for either Austria or Bosnia and Herzegovina and speaking to Bosnian website reprezentacija.ba, he said: "I also read that in the media.

"We need to wait and see how much truth there is in all this, that is, how concrete it is.

"But I don't care much for that. I focus now only on the national team and my club. The work needs to be done on the pitch in the right way, and we will see if there is an offer."

Celtic were previously reported to have taken an interest last summer as Balic rose to prominence at another Austrian side in SKN St Polten, before joining LASK in the January 2020 window.
