Husband of terminal cancer patient takes on gruelling bike trek to raise funds

The husband of a woman who was diagnosed with terminal cancer 12 years ago is to make a 156-mile bike trek in aid of the charity that helped them.

Michael Matheson and his friends Alan Hendry, 49, Kenneth Macrae, 40 and Douglas Cameron, 36, will saddle up for Maggie’s on August 15 – and his wife Margaret-Ann, 33, will be waiting at the finish line.

The men will cycle from Duirinish in the Highlands to Inverness before making the trip back the same day.

Michael said: “Margaret-Ann was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma when she was 21.

"Because Maggie’s rely on donations to survive, I really wanted to do something to help.”
