- Maldivian rescue teams, including the coast guard and military units, launched a “high-risk” search and recovery operation near Alimatha, recovering one body while the remaining four are believed to still be within the submerged cave system, with efforts hampered by rough weather conditions.
- A Maldives government spokesperson confirmed that an investigation would be launched into how the divers went below the permitted depth in the extremely deep cave, which even specialist divers typically do not attempt to approach.
