Husband of Bible John victim urges cops to release photo-fit of witness who could unmask serial killer

The husband of Bible John victim Helen Puttock has urged police to release a photo-fit of the only other witness who could unmask the infamous serial killer.

George Puttock issued the plea as he revealed he is battling health problems and fears he will never find out who murdered his wife.

He begged police to find the man identified as “Castlemilk John”.

He said: “Why they have never released an image of this man who was said to have been a friend of Bible John is beyond me.

“I don’t understand why they never did an artist’s impression of him. It’s not too late, they could still do it even today.”

Helen was the third victim of Bible John. She was raped and killed in Scotstoun, Glasgow, in 1969.

The women had earlier met two men both called John. One said he was a slater from Castlemilk.

Later, he left the sisters to share a taxi with the suspected killer.

Professor David Wilson, who has written a book about Bible John, said of “Castlemilk John”: “Why was no sketch produced about him – he seemed to vanish from the investigation and from history.”
