Husband extradited to NT after being charged over wife's stabbing death

Kwementyaye McCormack was found dead at her home in Alice Springs in 2015.

A man arrested over the stabbing death of a mother in Alice Springs has been extradited to the Northern Territory from Broome.

Nathan Swan, 40, was released into the custody of NT detectives who travelled to Western Australia last week.

He was charged with manslaughter and has been flown back to the NT.

The arrest came four years after his wife Kwementyaye McCormack, a youth worker, was found dead at their home in Alice Springs with a stab wound to the thigh.

Mr Swan was the main suspect in her death, but he was not charged at the time.

A coronial inquest found the police investigation into her death was not of a high standard.

The ABC understands NT police had issued a warrant for Mr Swan's arrest and were notified by West Australian police.

He is currently in Darwin and will be transferred to Alice Springs to face court on March 19.
