'Hurtful social media messages' posted about death of 13-year-old Carson Price

Police are warning of "hurtful social media posts" circulating after the tragic death of 13-year-old Carson Price.

The teenager, from Hengoed , was found unconscious in Ystrad Mynach Park in Caerphilly Road on Friday night but was later pronounced dead.

Gwent Police have since said they are treating the boy's death as unexplained but are focusing on on "illegal substances being a contributing factor" .

On Monday an officer involved in the case issued a warning following reports of hurtful social media posts being put up in the aftermath of the tragedy.

They also say they have been told by the community that there are some hurtful social media posts circulating around the events on Friday night.

Superintendent Nick McLain said: "As I’ve mentioned in previous messages we don’t want to rush to any conclusions about the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Carson Price and our investigation team are focused on finding out what happened that evening.

“Please remember that harassing, threatening, and abusing people on social media can be against the law. Our advice is to be as careful on social media as you would in any other form of communication.

"If you say something about someone which is grossly offensive or is of an indecent, obscene, or menacing character then you could be investigated by the police."
