Hurricane Jose strengthens slightly 500 miles south of Bermuda: NHC

(Reuters) - Hurricane Jose has strengthened slightly as it slowly moves westward, but it could gradually weaken into a tropical storm over the next couple of days, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Wednesday.

The hurricane is now about 495 miles (800 km) south of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 80 miles per hour (130 km per hour), the NHC said.
