Darren Henderson is relishing another derby day as he eyes doing the double over Darvel.
Hurlford United took the Irvine Valley bragging rights with a fine 1-0 win at Recreation Park.
And this Saturday they will clash as ‘Ford look to put them to the sword again.
Henderson told the Kilmarnock Standard: “It’s a big one, of course it is.
“Our result against them last time was strong but we know how good they are and we won’t be kidded on because we beat them.
“On their day, they’ve got the strongest squad in the league and we will be giving them every bit of respect they deserve.
“I am looking forward to it, though and it should be a good one.”
He added: “It’s a different look for Darvel now without Mick Kennedy – we will see how it goes.”
Henderson admits this season is all about consolidation and staying in the West of Scotland Premier Division after a year of countless injuries.
It would take a disaster for Hurlford to be dragged into the drop zone, but the Blair Park boss wants to get back to winning games regardless.
A disappointing 4-1 defeat to Largs on Saturday leaves ‘Ford hungry for three points heading into Saturday’s Irvine Valley derby with Darvel.
Henderson said: “We just need to hope we’ve got enough points to stay up, in the last 10 years we’re one of the only teams who haven’t been relegated so we need to make sure that keeps continuing.
“We are in an area of the league that we’ve never been in during my time, we need to soldier on, put our heads together and try to get some more points.
“We’ve got some tough games coming up: Darvel, Auchinleck and Beith who are three teams all at the sharp end of the league, we’ve got a wee bit of work to do.
Liam Miller opened the scoring for ‘Ford then goals from David Ramsay, Stuart Faulds, Jame Martin and Will Sewell put the game beyond any doubt.
Henderson said: “We were poor, even though we went up 1-0 we were never in control of the game.
“We were always chasing, we were disjointed a wee bit to be honest, it was just one of those afternoons.”
