Hunts Cross disruption now over say Merseyrail

Merseyrail services on the Hunts Cross to Liverpool Central have finally resumed this morning.

The organisation had warned the cancellation of services could stretch into Tuesday as work continued on a suspected faulty cable.

But an update issued on Sunday said that repair work was "progressing well".

And this morning Merseyrail confirmed services had been restored.

In a statement on Twitter they said: "Network Rail have now confirmed that following a power supply problem, repairs have now been made and a normal service will run on the Hunts Cross line today."

Commuters were hit when services were cancelled from 6.30am on Thursday.

Since then rail replacement buses had run between Liverpool Central and Hunts Cross.

The issue caused disruption for those travelling to work, Liverpool South Parkway and LIMF.

Merseyrail added: "We aplogise for any inconvenience this may have caused to you and would like to thank you for your patience during this time."
