Huntly vs Lossiemouth delayed as referee 'spews in the centre circle'

They say a referee's doing well if nobody notices he's there.

It's decent advice but unfortunately it's hard to hide when you're bringing your dinner up in the middle of the pitch.

Sadly for Paul McAvinue, that's exactly what happened as he took charge of Huntly vs Lossiemouth in the Highland League.

The game was stopped to allow the whistler to bring up whatever was bothering him.

Whether McAvinue's regurgitated dinner was then removed from the field of play, a la the infamous Spartans jobby, remains unclear.

Both the Huntly and Lossiemouth Twitter admins had a field day with the incident, obviously.

@lossiemouthfc: "Game delayed temporarily while the referee spews in the centre circle"

@huntlyfc: "Stoppage in play while referee Paul McAvinue has a spew."

And when the action got under way again, Lossiemouth couldn't resist another quip.

@lossiemouthfc: "That’s him done yakking up his tea and we’re on the go again"

You don't get that in the Champions League.
