Hunter vaccination push as region closes in on 100 daily cases

HUNTER residents are being urged to visit one of multiple walk-in vaccination clinics this weekend as another 98 cases of COVID-19 were announced for the health district on Saturday.

Of the Hunter New England's cases;

  • 28 are from Lake Macquarie local government area (LGA)
  • 24 are from Cessnock LGA;
  • 15 are from Newcastle LGA;
  • 13 are from Maitland LGA;
  • 5 are from Tamworth LGA;
  • 4 are from Mid Coast LGA;
  • 4 are from Muswellbrook LGA;
  • 1 is from Singleton LGA;
  • 1 is from Port Stephens LGA;
  • 1 is from Glen Innes LGA;
  • 1 is from Gunnedah LGA and;
  • 1 is from Upper Hunter LGA.

Hunter New England Health said 41 cases were infectious in the community, 45 were in isolation for their entire infectious period, and 12 remained under investigation.

It said 48 cases were linked to known exposures or clusters, 21 were unlinked, and the source of 29 cases was still under investigation.

A number of vaccination clinics are open across the Hunter New England this weekend, including at:

BELMONT 

Who: Workers across all hospitality sectors are encouraged to come forward for vaccination, including club workers, restaurant workers and hotel workers. Please wear a mask, bring evidence of your workplace and a form of ID.

When: Sunday 10 October from 8am to 2:45pm

Where: Belmont Vaccination Centre, 393 Pacific Hwy, Belmont

EAST MAITLAND 

Who: Open to everyone aged 12 years and older but priority given to people who live in social housing, are experiencing homelessness, are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or have disability or significant health problems.

When: Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 3pm

Where: East Maitland Community Health Centre, 58 Stronach Ave, East Maitland

TAREE

Who: Open to everyone aged 12 years and older

When: Sunday 10 October, From 10am-2pm

Where: 56 Chatham Ave, Taree

BUSHLAND (mobile clinic, Taree)

Who: Open to everyone aged 12 years and older but priority given to people who live in social housing, are experiencing homelessness, are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or have disability or significant health problems.

When: Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October, From 11am

Where: Bushland Drive area

Additional Pfizer vaccination bookings are also available in Armidale, Belmont, Moree, Muswellbrook, Tamworth and Taree.

Bookings can be made via the Commonwealth Government's COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder.
