HUNTER students have described their Community and Family Studies (CAFS) exam as reasonable and easier than their trials, with only a sprinkling of challenging questions.
Hunter River High students Angel Baker-Vollmer, Isabelle Bird, Rhian Wilkins and Reanna Betwell, all 18, were among 8669 students - of which 90 per cent are female - who sat the three hour Higher School Certificate paper on Friday.
It was the last paper for everyone but Isabelle, who had her final exam, Visual Arts, 85 minutes later.

"It was okay," Isabelle said. "There were a few questions where I forgot everything, but it wasn't too challenging."
Angel said it was "good", Rhian said it was "much like the trial exam and easier in most spots" while Reanna said it had more questions on research methodology than she expected.
They said the multiple choice section was straight-forward.

Angel said one question about the structure of a research project was useful for the following short answer section.
They said two questions in the short answer section, each worth eight marks - about how the government and community organisations assisted social groups and how advocacy impacted on social groups - were most difficult.
In the last section they had to answer a three-part question about the social impact of technology.

"We studied that really well in class so I found I could answer everything really well," Isabelle said.
"The second part, about interpersonal relationships, was simple and like our last assessment," Rhian said.
"When I saw it I thought, 'How about that!?'"
The girls have their formal next week and said they were feeling a mix of relief, excitement and nerves about starting a new chapter.

"It doesn't feel real, it just feels like we're on holidays," Angel said.
"I think it will take a while to sink in. The HSC doesn't create your future, you have to create it for yourself."
Isabelle wants to study horse breeding and training at Tocal College.
The others are planning on TAFE. Angel is considering fashion design and textiles, Rhian is thinking of tourism and travel and Reanna wants to pursue youth or social work.
The exam period ends Monday.
