Giants pitcher Hunter Strickland and Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper each received disciplinary action Tuesday following a much-ballyhooed fist fight in Monday's game at AT&T Park.
Major League Baseball suspended Strickland for six games and Harper for four games while fining both players undisclosed amounts _ a ruling that both players are appealing.
Strickland's ban is because he intentionally hit Harper with a pitch, incited the benches-clearing brawl and fought Harper, whose suspension is for charging the mound, throwing his helmet and fighting.
Both suspensions were scheduled to start Tuesday, when the clubs continue their series in San Francisco, though the appeals mean they will play until that process is complete.
