Hunter Square incident: Cops tape off area and put up forensic tent after man hospitalised

One man has been hospitalised after a "disturbance" in Edinburgh city centre with police enquiries said to be ongoing.

A cordon remains in place at Hunter Square near South Bridge in Edinburgh, with a forensics tents covering a small area.

Police Scotland told Edinburgh Live they were called to reports of a disturbance on Tuesday afternoon, with one man requiring medical treatment following the incident.

The nature of the disturbance is not yet known.

A spokesperson for the force said: "This an ongoing incident with one man having been taken to hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

One concerned local took to Twitter after passing the scene.

"Does anyone in Edinburgh know what’s went down at Hunter’s Square? Just went past and it’s cordoned off with police tape and there’s a forensics tent up."
