A Hunter man has been charged for allegedly using the internet to groom a child for sex.
Police will allege in court the 47-year-old Kurri Kurri man was speaking with a 14-year-old girl online and engaged in conversations about sexually explicit acts he wanted to perform with her.
He also allegedly sent her explicit material.
Strike Force Trawler detectives arrested the man just after 9.30am on Wednesday at a caravan park in Singleton.
The arrest came after investigators from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad began engaging with the man online in May.
The man - who cannot be named - was charged with using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material and using a carriage service to groom a child aged under 16 years old for sex.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
Regular covert online investigations are conducted and police in NSW work closely with their law-enforcement colleagues interstate and overseas.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
