Hunt on for pair who stopped car on motorway before attempting to hijack two vehicles

Footage shows a man and woman attempting to break into a vehicle during traffic on M1

Gold Coast police are searching for a man and woman after they stopped their car in the middle of the Pacific Motorway before attempting to hijack two vehicles.

Queensland Police said a silver Ford Falcon with no number plates was being driven dangerously on the M1 near Burleigh when it suddenly stopped in front of a vehicle.

The woman and man, who was armed with a "sharp implement", threatened the driver of the vehicle behind them, which then drove away through the painted island.

The pair then attempted to steal another vehicle, before driving away.

They again confronted another driver near the Palm Beach exit, forcing a 67-year-old woman out of her Mazda hatchback before taking off in the car.

Police are appealing for anyone with information of their whereabouts to come forward, as well as any witnesses of the incidents or anyone with additional dash cam footage.
