Hunt launched for thief who stole three bottles of vodka from Glasgow bar

Police are hunting a man who made off with three bottles of vodka during an early morning break in at a Glasgow bar.

The raider smashed the window of the Golf Lounge on West George Street in the city centre just after 5.30am this morning.

The bar’s security system captured the man as he crawled through the window, grabbed three bottles of vodka before running off as the building’s alarm system was triggered.

Bar owners Garry and Mel Thomson told Glasgow Live that while the break in is upsetting, they are determined to see the funny side of the situtation.

They said: "We have done a stock take and there was definitely no valuables taken. It seems that vodka was his tipple! \

"We've got a good sense of humour about it. Why would you put yourself through all that just for a few bottles? We've been joking that he couldn't wait until the 10am to get his vodka from the shops."

The pair also posted the video on their Facebook page and said: "At 5.33 am this morning this clown broke his way into The Golf Lounge. Unfortunately for him he didn’t even make it to the first hole on one of our simulators before being sent packing by our new AND VERY LOUD alarm system.

"The security company were there within minutes and alerted police.

"Our CCTV shows that he was in and out in less than 60 seconds and it’s looking like vodka is his tipple. His handicap remains unknown."

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland said: "Police were called at 5.40am to reports of a break in at Golf Lounge.

"Enquiries are ongoing and there are no further details at this time."
