Hunt launched for thief who stole charity tin from Glasgow pub

Police are hunting for a man who stole a charity tin from a pub in Glasgow.

CCTV footage depicts the man swiping the Greyhound Awareness League tin at 13th Note, hiding it in his jacket before pretending to be on his mobile phone as he walked away.

The incident happened at the King Street bar between 3:30pm and 4:30pm on Tuesday.

A staff member told Glasgow Live : "A man came in and said he was waiting for his missus so sat and looked at the menu. On his phone. I spoke to another customer for a bit. After about 15 minutes I joked that he'd maybe been stood up. He said 'Don't say that, after the day I've had.' A few minutes later when my back was turned he left.

"I saw a customer he'd been speaking to chase after him. I thought maybe he'd nicked something off the table. The customer came back shortly after and said he'd seen him pinch the Greyhounds Awareness League tin. When my colleague came in at 5 I checked the CCTV and sure enough you can see him burning the string with a lighter."

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police in Glasgow received a report of the theft of a charity collection tin from a business in King Street, Glasgow, on Tuesday 17 September 2019. Enquiries are ongoing."

Animal lovers can help by donating cash to the Greyhound Awareness League.
