Hunt launched for sex offender on the run from prison as police advise public not to approach him

UPDATE: He has now been found and arrested

A sex offender is on the run after absconding from a prison not far from Bristol.

Neon Collins, 39, is believed to have left the HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire sometime before 8am on May 12.

Collins, who was previously known as Wayne Parkes, is currently serving a custodial sentence for sexual offences.

Police are advising anyone who may see Collins not to approach him, but call 999 immediately.

He is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, of average build, with short brown hair and green eyes.

He has the word Holly written in Japanese tattooed on his neck and a pierced left ear with a large hole in the lobe.

Collins has links to West Midlands, in particular the Worcestershire area.

A police spokesman said: "If anyone sees Collins or knows of his whereabouts, we’d ask you not to approach him but to call us immediately on 999, telling the call handler you’re phoning in relation to log 269 of today, May 12."
