Hunt launched for man who jumped on bonnet of police car

A car passenger jumped onto the bonnet of a police car after the vehicle he was travelling in refused to pull over.

Greater Manchester Police officers began to pursue the Vectra in the Farnworth area during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police requested for the car to stop on Castle Street, but the driver refused.

The front passenger of the vehicle then jumped on top of the bonnet of the GMP car, blocking its path.

He then made off from the scene, while the Vectra fled in the direction of Tonge Moor.

Officers pursued the vehicle until it came to a stop on Larkfield Grove.

The driver abandoned the Vectra and officers chased him on foot through Cross Moor Drive.

A man was later arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, failure to stop, dangerous driving and drug driving.

The 38-year-old man remains in police custody.

Officers have also seized the vehicle.

GMP continue to search for the passenger involved in the incident on suspicion of obstructing a police vehicle.

Any witnesses or anyone with further information can contact GMP on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
