Hunt is on to find owner of engagement ring left in park with mysterious note

Engagement rings tend to be pretty pricey, so those who have one will usually keep it close to them... it's not often you find one abandoned in the middle of a busy park.

But this is exactly what's happened in Newcastle, according to Chronicle Live.

A small ring box, containing a suspected engagement ring was discovered on a bench in Leazes Park on April 17.

Alongside the ring, was a mysterious handwritten note, which simply read "I'm sorry".

It's unclear if the ring was dropped or deliberately left in its place on the park bench.

Man wants to propose with ring he designed for his ex - and people are appalled

The box and note were found by a couple who were out enjoying a walk in the park.

They took the ring, which features a single ruby, set within a cluster of diamonds on a gold band, to national silverware outlet AC Silver.

And now the company is hoping to reunite the ring with its rightful owner.

Andrew Campbell, founder of AC Silver, said: "It's not everyday you come across a beautiful engagement ring left in the park, but to find one with such a mysterious note is very bizarre.

Man proposes to girlfriend with £7,000 ring he borrowed from stranger - which she then has to give back

"We can only speculate as to why the presumed owner is sorry, maybe he couldn't go through with a proposal, or maybe he broke his girlfriend's heart? Who knows."

He added: "One thing we do know is that we'd like to get to the bottom of it and reunite the ring with its rightful owner. Any information is most welcome."

Can you help reunite the ring with the person who bought it?
