Hunt for wanted man, 30, who vanished after jumping into freezing river to escape police

Police are hunting for a wanted man who vanished after jumping into a freezing river to escape from pursuing officers.

Lancashire Police are currently looking for Daniel Godkin, 30, who they say has has disappeared after jumping into a river in order to avoid being questioned by the force's officers.

A spokesperson said police went to an address today to "make enquiries about an ongoing investigation."

However, when they got there, Godkin jumped into a nearby river.

It is believed that Godkin, who is still missing, swam across to the other side of the Ribble River in Preston, Lancashire, and ran off.

In a bid to find him, the fire service have launched a rescue boat and searched the river while the police helicopter has been deployed to locate him.
