Hunt for two women who smashed wine bottle over lone Tube passenger's head

Detectives wish to speak with two women after a Tube passenger was hit over the head with a wine bottle, leaving her with serious head injuries.

The shocking assault, which took place on the Northern Line, happened after midnight and police have released CCTV footage that shows two women, one clutching a bottle.

At around 12:30am on 17 June, the victim was on her way home when two women sat opposite her and accused her of staring at them.

It is alleged the two women then became aggressive and one of them pounced on her, cracking a wine bottle over her head.

The victim was left shaken by the attack and suffered a deep cut to the side of her forehead.
