Police are searching for three people who assaulted a man before stealing his car in Newcastle.
Just after 6pm on Monday, a man driving a grey Toyota was flagged down by an unknown male on Westgate Road who then banged on the vehicle and caused him to stop.
Another male and a female then joined the suspect and all three assaulted the driver, causing him minor injuries, before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.
Police say the car was then driven the wrong way up Westgate Road where it crashed into several vehicles before coming to a stop.
The suspects then fled on foot.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "An investigation was subsequently launched and enquiries to trace those responsible is ongoing.
