Hunt for teenagers following massive blaze at church in Ladywell area of Livingston

Police are looking to trace two teenagers after a massive fire at a church in Livingston.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spent hours tackling the blaze on Tuesday evening – and officers are saying that it's "essential" that they trace those responsible.

Flames engulfed the church, in Fernbank which is located in the Ladywell area of the town, at around 9.30pm.

Fire crews remained on the scene for almost three hours before extinguishing the flames just after midnight.

Two teenagers, aged around 14 or 15, were seen in the area, and police are looking to track them down. They are both said to be of slim build, and were both wearing dark clothing.

Detective sergeant Ally Urquhart of Livingston’s criminal investigation department said: “This was significant fire which required a major response from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

"It is essential that we trace those involved in this incident as soon as possible.

"I would ask anyone who was in the Ladywell area of Livingston in the evening of Tuesday, April 9, and saw anything suspicious, to get in touch with us at their earliest convenience."

Anyone with information should contact Livington CID on 101, quoting incident number 4159 of 9 April.
