Hunt for sex offender on the run from prison as police tell public not to approach

Police have warned members of the public not to approach a sex offender who is on the run after he absconded from prison this morning.

Neon Collins, 39, is believed to have left the HMP Leyhill in  South Gloucestershire  sometime before 8am.

Collins, who was previously known as Wayne Parkes, is currently serving a custodial sentence for sexual offences.

Police are advising anyone who may see Collins not to approach him, but to call 999 immediately, Bristol Live reports.

He is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, of average build, with short brown hair and green eyes.

Collins has links to West Midlands, in particular the Worcestershire area.

A police spokesman said: "If anyone sees Collins or knows of his whereabouts, we’d ask you not to approach him but to call us immediately on 999, telling the call handler you’re phoning in relation to log 269 of today, May 12."
