Hunt for 'reckless' thug after car deliberately set on fire outside Tollcross flat

Police are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set alight in the Tollcross area.

The motor was parked outside a flat on Altyre Street around 5.30pm on Tuesday when it was targeted.

Officers have described the incident which left the car extensively damaged as 'reckless'.

Detective Sergeant Chris Lafferty from Shettleston CID said: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding this reckless incident and I am appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“If you were in the area of Altyre Street around 5.30pm on Tuesday evening, and noticed anything at all suspicious, please get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone living locally with private CCTV, or motorists with dash-cams who were nearby, to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 2538 of Tuesday, 29 December. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
