Hunt for owners of little Staffie-cross who boarded bus alone with nowhere to go

This touching photo shows a dog sit on a seat on a bus after boarding it alone with nowhere else to go.

The Staffie-cross stray hopped on the First Bus in Bierley, West Yorkshire, on Wednesday.

It stayed on a seat by itself for 20 minutes until the service reached its final destination in Bradford.

Gemma Burton, who was travelling on the bus, said: "She did try and get off the bus at one point but it was on the busy main road, so we got her to stay on and someone stayed with her on the bus before she was taken off at Bradford Interchange."

The lonely pooch appeared to be wearing a red body harness with gold detail.

She has been taken into nearby kennels of the rescue charity Yorkshire Rose Dog, says Yorkshire Evening Post .

The dog will remain at the kennels until Wednesday to allow its owner time to come forward.

Although the picture has been shared widely on social media, the owner is yet to reach out.

Janet Burrell, trustee from Yorkshire Rose Dog, said: "Whoever her owner is musn't be missing her that much, it's been 48 hours now.

"She just got on the bus all by herself in Bierley and stayed on until she was removed by the staff in the city centre.

"We need a new home for her."

One Facebook user wrote: "Heartbreaking... I hope this fur baby is claimed or a fabulous forever family adopts."

Another said: "If you are unable to find the owner I will happily adopt her."
