Hunt for owners after firefighters save dog from Brislington brook

A city-wide hunt is being launched to trace the owners of a dog after it was rescued from a brook.

The chiweenie was saved by fire crews on Saturday (November 14) after being spotted in trouble in the water behind The White Hart Pub, on Brislington Hill.

Following the rescue, the dog was passed to the RSPCA. The charity is now attempting to locate its owners.

A spokesperson for Hicks Gate Fire Station tweeted: "White Watch along with our Swift water qualified colleagues from AFRSBedminster have just rescued this little fella from the river behind The White Hart Pub on Brislington Hill.

"Dog handed over to RSPCA_official.

"Thanks to AFRSControl for coordinating."

When asked if the dog was chipped, they responded; "Sadly the little fella wasn't chipped, RSPCA took him back to their place to check, they will keep him for a couple of weeks to see if the owner comes forward, if not he will be up for adoption."
