Hunt for mum and three young kids who vanished in early hours of Christmas Eve

A mum who vanished on Christmas Eve along with her three kids has been found, police say.

Iona Whyte, 38, was last seen in the early hours of December 24.

She is believed to have left an address on Garrison Road, in Montrose, Angus, between 2am and 3am.

She was reported missing alongside her three children Errol, age four, and James, and Mary, both one, reports the Daily Record.

But it was confirmed tonight that she had been traced safe and well.

Police thanked the public for their assistance.

Officers were desperately appealing for the public’s help to find her and the youngsters.

She was described as being of a slim build, around 5ft 7in and has shoulder length brown hair.

Inspector David Gibson said : "We are becoming increasingly concerned for Iona and her children's welfare and are keen to trace them as soon as possible.

"If you have any information about their whereabouts, please contact Police as soon as possible on 101 quoting incident 0351 of 24th December.

"If Iona is reading this media appeal she is requested to make contact with her family or police and let them know they are safe and well".
